LA-based guitarist John Huldt, who spends his time playing for the band Ampora and teaching at the Los Angeles College of Music when he isn’t demonstrating awesome gear at NAMM, shows us a little piece of the power of the Kemper Profiling Amplifier.

From Kemper-Amps.com: The Kemper Profiler enables you to do what generations of guitar players have been waiting for: to capture the soul of all your amps (and so many more) inside a lunchbox-sized amplifier. So, how does it work? We use cutting edge technology to capture the sonic DNA of virtually any guitar amp. The resulting profiles are as living, vivid and dynamic as the original amps.

Imagine you’ve used some sweet-sounding, well-maintained vintage tube amps in your last studio session: With the Kemper Profiler, there’s no need to leave those sounds behind anymore. Simply create your own profiles from these amps and take them with you to use anywhere you like. Variations with alternative amp settings can be created and even the cabinet of a profiled combo amp can be exchanged at any time. Dozens of pro-grade onboard effects and stomp boxes can be used to spice up the profiles. We even give you profiles of many exceptional signature amps.

Highlights

  • Accurate models of classic, retro modulation effects and famous overdrive/distortion pedals. Wah, tremolo, delay, reverb and much more. Add up to eight effects at the same time.
  • Ships with over 300 profiles, created in studios around the world, featuring vintage classics, modern high-gain amps, and rare boutique items.
  • Drives both guitar and full-range cabinets – at the same time if desired. The extensive output options put you in control.
  • Built-in analog splitter that mirrors your DI signal to the direct out. Record this dry signal to a separate track, and you can re-amp it later, should you desire to do so.
  • Fourteen endless analogue potentiometers allow quick and easy control over the sound, without the irritating ‘gear ratio’ feeling.
  • 80dBs of available gain for the amp simulation lets you clean up a distorted profile or push a clean profile into overdrive.
  • Frequent firmware updates will always be free of charge and a new OS version will never alter the sound of your existing rigs.
  • Available as a rack unit or a head, with the option of a built-in 600 watt power amp for either.
