Mike Starr, the original bassist for grunge icons Alice In Chains, was found dead by police on March 8th at his home in Salt Lake City, Utah.
Starr was featured on VH1’s Celebrity Rehab with Dr. Drew in 2010, where he appeared to be making progress towards recovery, but was later arrested on suspicion of drug possession in February of 2011.
Before he left Alice In Chains in the early 90’s, Starr contributed to the band’s first two albums: Facelift, which spawned the hit single ‘Man In The Box’ and the landmark album Dirt, a record still considered by many fans to be the band’s finest hour.
